PUPILS at a Newport school are celebrating after receiving two awards for their school grounds.
Eco committee pupils at Pentrepoeth Primary School achieved a bronze award for Gwent's Best Kept Village School 2014 and the Silver Leaf Award as part of Newport in Bloom for their garden.
The school eco team, led by year four teacher John Willmore and school governor John Barrowman, have already achieved four Green Flag awards and have platinum status after judges came to the school to inspect the schools grounds.
A total of 30 children aged six to 11-years-old from the school's eco team meet once a week to come up with new projects and ideas.
Mr Willmore said: “The children have done a lot of work.
“The eco team at the school has run for the last 10 years and we have an eco newsletter which has ran for the last nine years.”
