HALLOWEEN is one of those tricky times of year when you’re forced to find a scary costume on a budget that isn’t as frightening.

Whether it’s for the kids to go to their first trick-or-treat adventure around the neighbourhood; for your teen to go to a house party dressed to scary-perfection; or even for a spooky night out on the town, it’s important to hit the nail on the coffin. (Pardon the pun.)

This year it seems that Wilkinson, TU at Sainsbury’s, Accessorize and Matalan are amongst some of the best stores that have it covered when it comes to a full-on Halloween costume or alternatively just a few accessories to add to your outfit. Whatever your preference these stores are sure to have what you’re looking for.

Wilkinson prove to be a winner on the high street when it comes to providing a good costume at a decent price. From as little as £5 you can buy a spooky t-shirt or dress emblazoned with skeleton ribs for a practical yet effective Halloween look.

Wilkinson have also brought out cute costumes for the kids. From around £8 you can indulge your children in their Halloween excitement and treat them to a variety of outfits such as a ‘poisoned princess’ dress or a werewolf mask.

For your extra tiny horrors, this year it’s worth visiting Marks and Spencer for a skeleton onesie for just £10. George at ASDA also has a ‘Babies say boo’ collection with Halloween themed baby-grows and bibs from as little as £1.50.

The supermarket fashion line is also selling accessories to throw your own Halloween party including banners, badges and pumpkin and spider shaped collection pots to fill with treats. Face paints, fake blood, vampire teeth and fake nails are also available from the store for those of you who want to you really push the boat out this year.

Halloween provides the perfect excuse to get dressed up and have a night on the town. Matalan are selling wickedly spooky adult costumes for £20. Choose from a vampire, a bewitched Little Red Riding Hood, a mummy and even a particularly scary Halloween clown costume.

Argos is also holding a 25 per cent discount sale on selected lines for adult fancy dress including a Ghostbusters inspired onesie, a bewitched pirate girl costume and even Mr and Mrs Edward Scissor hands outfits.

Meanwhile, for those who want to get involved in the ghoulish fun without going all-out, visit Accessorize - a high street favourite for masks and hair bands with a spooky twist.

Highlights include a cat-ear hair band for £4 and a black lace mask which is sure to bring drama to any outfit.

ASOS are also promoting their spookily fantastic Halloween collection. Red, black and lace themed dresses, skirts, gloves and leggings are on sale online for those of you who want to look glamorously scary in outfits that you can tone down for any other occasion.

Claire’s Accessories have also got it covered for those items set to vamp up your outfit. A glittery cat mask is on sale as part of their Katy Perry collection for £4.50, black tights with embroidered spider webs are on sale at £6 and if you just want to add a hint of spookiness to your outfit, spider themed false nails are also available at £7.

Happy Halloween!
