STAFF from St Joseph’s Hospital in Newport dropped into Bettws foodbank with a festive donation, having organised a collection at their Christmas carol service.
Guests were encouraged to donate non-perishable food goods at the service, led by the Salvation Army Band.
David Watts, HR director for St Joseph’s, said: “Christmas is a very difficult time for people in crisis and we wanted to help members of our local community who are struggling.
“By encouraging people to donate at our carol service, we wanted to spread a little Christmas spirit among our local community and also to remind those who are in need that they are not alone.”
Speaking on behalf of the Bettws foodbank, Canon Henry Davies said: “We rely on donations such as these to keep our service going and would like to say a big thanks to the team at St Joseph’s and all others who contributed to this very gratefully received Christmas gift.
“Every tin and packet that we receive makes a difference. It’s good to think that we will be helping those who need our support over the festive period to make their lives a little easier.”
