Man arrested for wasting police time after Newport gun hoax
A MAN has been charged with wasting police time after an allegedly hoax call that a man was being threatened with a hand gun in Newport.
Gwent Police received a call at approximately 8.40pm last night. Gwent Police launched an operation and they say officers from the Joint Firearms Unit were deployed.
A 26-year-old man was arrested at a Newport address on suspicion of wasting police time and attempting to pervert the course of justice. He was charged with both offences this afternoon, and was bailed to appear before Newport Magistrates' Court on April 14.
