THE FIRE that severely damaged four homes on a residential street in Newport is not being treated as suspicious, police have confirmed.
The fire service has also finished investigating into the blaze and said the fire was being classed as “accidental”.
The blaze ripped through four homes on Durham Road in the early hours of Thursday morning.
The fire spread through the roofs of the houses of numbers four, six and eight and partially destroyed two further houses.
There were no casualties and two of the properties were vacant at the time.
A Maindee pub is set to hold a fundraising night in aid of the residents affected on July 17.
Hot Rocks, on Chepstow Road, will host local band G.T.F.B.i and a raffle.
Prizes in the raffle include: a cut and blow dry and shape and polish from Kutz and Kurls, an express facial and spray tan from Beauty by Rhianne, a new LG mobile phone from Andy Mac and Sons Roofing, and tea for two and cake from Rocco's bagel bar and coffee shop.
