UPDATE: 12.28pm

The woman hurt in this morning's crash received serious pelvic injuries and she remains in the Royal Gwent Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Two young men are reported to have fled from the scene of the crash and police are appealing for help in identifying and finding them.

Officers investigating a single vehicle Road traffic collision which occurred at approximately 04:45 this morning on the A4051 near the junction with Llanover Close and Bettws Lane are appealing for witnesses.

Anyone with any information is asked to ring 101 quoting log 61 03/08/15.

A woman has been taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital after this morning's crash. The incident involved a car and not a bus as was earlier reported. A Megabus was stuck at traffic lights when the road was closed.

UPDATE: 7.41am

The A4051 in Malpas has re-opened and traffic returned to normal following the earlier crash.

Police now advise traffic heading from Cwmbran towards Newport and the M4 to use the A4042 (To the east of Malpas) to either head into Newport on Heidenheim Drive or join the M4 at J25A (Grove Park Roundabout)

Diversion: Police advise traffic heading from Cwmbran towards Newport and the M4 to use the A4042 to either head into Newport on Heidenheim Drive or join the M4 at J25a.

A BUS was involved in an accident on the A4051 in Newport this morning.

The A4051 in Malpas inbound has been closed because of the accident.

The collision happened near the junction with Llanover Close and Bettws Lane.
