A BOY who climbed the wrong side of the railings on Newport's Millennium Bridge last night caused a false alarm with firefighters and the police put on alert.
Specialist crews from Newport were called out to the Millennium Footbridge on Usk Way at 5.42pm when boys were believed to be in danger.
South Wales Fire and Rescue head of control Jennie Griffiths said: “They were crossing the bridge when one of them climbed the wrong side of the railings causing people to fear for them.
“But he soon climbed back again when the police turned up and we were then stood down.”
She added firefighters found all were safe when they arrived.
