All IT problems at the Royal Gwent Hospital have now been resolved, the health board has said.

A spokeswoman said this afternoon: "We would like to thank the public for their patience and we apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

Gwent health chiefs ask people to visit minor injuries units, GP surgeries or pharmacies if they can instead of hospitals after their computer systems crashed.

Aneurin Bevan University Health Board have issued the following statement:

"We are experiencing significant IT problems at the Royal Gwent Hospital today. The Health Board staff are working to ensure this situation is resolved as quickly as possible and to minimise any disruption to patients. However this is now having an effect on our Emergency Units at the Royal Gwent Hospital and Nevill Hall Hospital.

Please can we urge the Gwent public to use the Choose Well information and visit other Healthcare options, such as Minor Injuries, GP or pharmacy if possible instead of the Emergency Units.

COMPUTER systems at the Royal Gwent Hospital have been down for 12 hours causing some delays after a network upgrade failed , the health board has said.

A spokesman for the health board apologised for any inconvenience caused but are urging people to still attend their appointments.

It has been reported the IT systems at the hospital have been down for over 12 hours, affecting telephones and clinical systems because a failed network upgrade last night. The health board has not confirmed this.

A spokesman for the health board said: “Staff are working to ensure this situation is resolved as quickly as possible.”
