CHARGES against a man arrested as part of an investigation into the £20,000 biscuit theft from the Burton’s Biscuits factory in Cwmbran have been dropped.
Stephen Burrows, 36, of Hornby Road, Liverpool, had been charged with two counts of theft, handling stolen goods and being carried in a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent.
He was due to appear at Newport Magistrates’ Court by video link this morning but the Crown Prosecution Service has discontinued its case against him.
He is the third man this week to have been released without charge over the theft, which took place at the factory on Ty Coch Way on June 17.
