A FUNDRAISING evening is being held in memory of a Newport dad who fought against three brain tumours but sadly died last November.

RAF engineer Anthony Hard fought cancer three times while also raising funds for his disabled son, Casey.

During his life Mr Hard collected thousands of pounds with his family and wife Nahella to support son Casey, who suffers from severe epilepsy, cerebral palsy and spastic quadriplegia.

The Hards’ charity, Casey’s Cause, provided Casey with specialised equipment, including a hot tub for hydrotherapy.

Now local radio presenter Matt Lissack is hoping to raise funds for Casey’s Cause and The Brain Tumour Charity at a fundraising evening at Rodney Parade in March.

The Capital South Wales Breakfast presenter is holding a music quiz fundraiser on Friday, March 11 and hopes to raise as much money as possible for the two causes in memory of the Newport dad.

Casey was born in 2011 but was left with significant brain damage and multiple disabilities because of a difficult birth.

The Brain Tumour Charity helps to fund pioneering research to help find a cure to the illness.

Matt, who hosts Capital Breakfast across South Wales every weekday, said: “So many people were touched by Anthony’s friendship, including myself.

“The night is all about having a bit of fun, helping to beat this awful illness and to continue to raise funds for a cause that was so close to Ant’s heart”.

Mr Hard first underwent surgery to remove a tumour in April 2012 and then again in February 2013 when the disease returned. But sadly he died last November year.

Matt’s Charity Music Quiz is from 7pm on Friday, March 11 in the Bisley Suite at Rodney Parade. A £5 entry fee will be charged on the night.
