A NEWPORT burger bar will reopen as a pop-up in the city after closing the doors to its restaurant next month.

Pretentious Burger Kitchen is set to cater at the Stow Park Lawn Tennis Club as it prepares to unveil its new six floodlit courts on Saturday, October 8.

Despite having to close its doors on September 17, the eatery is hoping that a new venture will help to rejuvenate the brand.

"We had always planned to explore the idea of turning it into a pop up," said Jem French, one of the restaurant's three founders.

"Within an hour of us announcing that we'd be closing, Stow Park approached us asking if we wanted to set up there.

"It's great to be working with the club for a good cause hopefully us being there can help bring people to the club."

According to Mr French, there are hopes that a successful monthly run could evolve into a weekly fixture.

Chris Chapman, the club's vice captain, said that he was looking forward to the £150,000 courts as well as working with Pretentious Burger Kitchen.

"These are three young and enthusiastic lads that we are looking to support and as a local club we're always looking to help local people," said Mr Chapman.

"We're going to see how the day goes and we might look at future partnerships with them judging by member feedback."
