PRAYERS for Ms Grender and her family will be said at churches in Lliswerry this weekend.
Reverend Helen Hall, vicar of St Andrews Church in Wales, Camperdown Road, said: "Everyone in the church on Sunday was aware of what had happened and were in shock that something like this could happen.
"We will be praying for Ms Grender, her family and the community in general at this Sunday's service."
Father Brian Cuddihy, priest at St Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, Cromwell Road, said: "It's just horrific. It's had a marked effect on the community. It's just awful.
Prayers for Ms Grender and her family will be part of our Sunday mass."
