  • Meanwhile, tickets are still available for a special dinner to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the formation of Newport AFC, now Newport County AFC, on June 18, when John Hartson will be the guest speaker.

Following the sad demise of the original club in March 1989, three meetings of supporters were held in the Lysaght Institute, with its historic connections to the club.

The first, on April 14, was a meeting of Lifeline members, at which it was decided to investigate the possibility of forming a new club, with the aim of eventually returning League football to Newport.

The second, on June 10, was a press conference to announce plans at which over 200 supporters attended.

The final meeting, on June 18, was attended by over 400 supporters who enthusiastically agreed to form a new club.

To celebrate the 25th anniversary the club returns to the refurbished ballroom of the Lysaghts Institute for an anniversary dinner on Wednesday , June 18, at 7pm.

There will be a three-course dinner, entertainment from local band Jarzino and guest speaker Hartson. Players of all eras will be in attendance.
