NEWPORT Gwent Dragons have had a frustrating first month of the season but ended September on a high with victory against Treviso.

The Rodney Parade region has been hit hard by injury but a number of individuals have stood firm to enjoy a fine start to the campaign. Which of the following candidates do you think has been the star performer in September?

ELLIOT DEE: Has enjoyed a super start to the campaign and has got the nod ahead of Rhys Thomas in three of four games. Part of a much-improved set piece and has been dynamic in the loose, leading to director of rugby Lyn Jones to say the 20-year-old is pressing for a place in the Wales squad.

TAULUPE FALETAU: The Wales star has played in all four games despite not featuring in pre-season because of his summer Test commitments. A spluttering attack means he hasn’t had the chance to shine with ball in hand like international teammate Dan Baker at the Ospreys but has shown his class in defence.

NIC CUDD: Under pressure to perform given the Dragons’ back row riches but has put in some terrific work at the breakdown. One of three players to start every game (Rynard Landman and Boris Stankovich the others) and has formed a good partnership with Faletau.

HALLAM AMOS: Missed all of pre-season and the Connacht game after having a summer operation on his shoulder but has returned strongly. Was put straight in on the wing against the Ospreys, moved to full-back against Glasgow and then shifted back out wide against Treviso to cross for a brace, producing a marvellous flying finish for his second score.

RYNARD LANDMAN: Settled in nicely after his move from South Africa – and just as well as the other locks are dropping like flies. Has shown plenty of athleticism around the park with a nice turn of pace for a big man. Produced the goods on the pitch and is also proving to be a real leader in the camp.
