NEWPORT County boss Justin Edinburgh believes there is a lot more to come from Swansea loanee James Loveridge, writes Michael Pearlman.

The 20-year old forward has extended his stay at Rodney Parade for another month, the Premier League side have confirmed.

Loveridge made his debut in the 3-1 win over York City in October and crucially for Newport, they have received permission to field the pace ace in their squad for the FA Cup first round tie against Luton next weekend.

And boss Edinburgh believes he could have a rising star on his hands.

“James has done well for us and he’s impressed in training, in games it’s been a tough test for him, because invariably we’ve had to ask him to play in unfamiliar roles, from midfield to wing back,” he said.

“He’d like to play further up the pitch and hopefully we’ll give him a chance to impress in the coming weeks.

“We’ve been very impressed so far with the players who have come here from Swansea.

“As I’ve mentioned, once Russell Slade has hit feet under the table (at Cardiff City) that’s another avenue we will look to explore also. It’s a win, win situation to our minds.”
