NEWPORT County AFC boss Warren Feeney is set to be in for a busy transfer deadline day as he looks to bolster his squad before the window closes later tonight.

Speaking after his side’s 4-1 Checkatrade Trophy defeat at Plymouth last night, Feeney admitted he hopes to bring in three new faces by the 11pm cut-off time.

“Hopefully one is done already and he’ll be coming in for Thursday, and hopefully I’ll be getting two more tied up,” said Feeney.

Commenting on the first of those signings in more detail, he added: “It has got to be finalised but the kid has agreed to come and I think he’ll be a decent signing for us.

“He knows the league and he’s a big, physical boy, so the important thing is to get the right players in.

“The word I’ve got is that he has signed the paperwork so that’s a good thing.”

And when asked if anyone will be heading out of the exit door at Rodney Parade today, Feeney said: “I don’t think anybody will be leaving.”

There is a strong suggestion that striker Reuben Reid, who is currently a free agent, will be one of those to join the Exiles today.
