ROSIE Eccles is guaranteed a Commonwealth Games medal after beating Olympic medallist Lovlina Borgohain by a split decision in Birmingham.
The 26-year-old from Caldicot edged out her Indian rival in the quarter-finals of the women's over 66kg-70kg.
Eccles will now take on Northern Ireland's Eireann Nugent in the semi-finals on Saturday at 11.45am.
She is trying to go one better than 2018 when she won silver and dug deep for success in the west midlands.
"Colin Jones' (coach) advice said you've got to go out and really give it some [in] this last round. I followed his advice and gave everything,
"That could have been a final and to get her out of the way early doors is a big thing."
