APOLOGIES to those of you are expecting to see me on Jonathan Ross' chat show tonight, due to me double-booking myself I will now be on next week instead.

I like Jonathan Ross, he's a funny guy, but if he gives me too much stick I will have to give him a right-hook, he's lucky that my left hand is currently out of commission!

I guess the first thing to talk about is my stablemate Gary Lockett's disappointing defeat to undefeated American middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik.

For those of you who didn't see the fight, Pavlik knocked Gary down three times in three rounds before my dad Enzo threw in the towel to protect Gary from getting hurt.

In the past people have questioned dad on this, Bernard Hopkins said that he is dangerous because he lives through his boxers and isn't concerned about their well being.

Obviously this is the biggest load of rubbish anyone could say about dad; he puts the safety of his fighters above everything.

There was no way he was going to let Gary get hurt, they were both so disappointed with how the fight went.

Gary couldn't execute his strategy; Pavlik was too aggressive and strong for him.

I've got to say I love watching the kid fight, he's entirely forward thinking, retreating, holding, they just don't come into his mind.

He is a breath of fresh air in American boxing, they badly need a guy like him and I think he's got a big future.

Obviously there is some talk about me fighting Kelly; a lot of people would love to see it, as Michael Pearlman wrote in his Argus column.

However, at this point in time, I think it's unlikely to happen.

Talks are ongoing about me facing Roy Jones Jnr, a genuine legend of boxing and a previous four-weight world champion.

That is a fight that I think can be made, but I am not sure if Pavlik really wants to face me at the moment.

He would have little to gain because I believe I would definitely beat him, with respect to Gary Lockett I would be a step-up too far for Pavlik.

He's got the world at his feet at middleweight or super middleweight and will want to build his unbeaten record, rather than stepping up at least one weight category to face me.

It's not beyond the realms of possibility that we will face each other, but I think Jones is the right fight for me at the moment.

I am interested to see that Floyd Mayweather has apparently retired from boxing, choosing not to stick around for a re-match with Oscar De La Hoya.

What can I say about Mayweather?

Money' is exactly that, a brilliant fighter, worthy of being considered one of the top three pound-for-pound fighters in the world.

He is the Ring Magazine number one pound-for-pound boxer, featherweight Manny Pacquiao rated as number two with me at three.

In two weeks Pacquiao meets David Diaz in Las Vegas, a dangerous fight for Pacquiao after so many out and out wars in recent years.

If Pacquiao loses and with Mayweather retired, I guess I could be number one in a fortnight.

That would be great even if it is by default, being rated as the top fighter in the world by Ring Magazine would be up there as a true career highlight.

I am continuing to watch the European Championships with great interest, although as you can imagine I am pretty - searching for a non swear word - gutted! That Italy have made such a dreadful start.

I never saw a drubbing at the hands of Holland being on the cards and now I am anxiously awaiting Italy versus Romania tonight.

Obviously another defeat and we are out and it'll be difficult against a side who put ten men behind the ball and rely on Adrian Mutu to make things happen up top.

Italy definitely have problems, defensively we looked weak against Holland and I think Marco Materazzi (again searching for a non-swear word) is absolutely useless!

However, France looked just as bad in drawing with Romania and I still think Italy can qualify.

Germany look strong as ever, but nothing better than that, I think Jens Lehmann is probably a weak link.

Most impressive by far are Spain and Portugal, but I like everyone have my doubts about Spain once we reach the knockout stages. So it's all to play for.

Finally, you might have seen I am off to Glamorgan next week for their Twenty20 match with Gloucestershire in Cardiff. Don't worry, I am not playing, just supporting the Welsh boys and watching cricket live for the first time with my kids. I have to confess I am not really into cricket, but the boys play at school and they are more keen than I am.

However, I hear good things about Twenty20 so maybe I will be converted.
