Greetings from Sardinia, my last refuge of relaxation and enjoyment before serious training gets under way for my last ever fight.

Where do I start? Speculation about me this week has been amazing, I hear I have got great column inches in the rest of the Welsh press without even being in the country!

As ever, this is the place to discover the truth about my future plans.

First and foremost I guess you want the latest on my fight with Roy Jones Jr.

My position is simple, it's the fight I want and it's going to happen.

I do not wish to fight again in Las Vegas if at all possible. We've been to Vegas, we beat Bernard Hopkins and it was a brilliant experience.

However, it's a big ask for my fans to go all the way to Vegas, generally it involves connecting flights and isn't exactly an easy place to go to on a budget!

I can also tell you that nothing is signed and sealed, obviously that would be impossible because like I say, I haven't even been in the country.

You'll have seen in the story the Argus did on me just before I went away - in reference to me relinquishing my WBC super middleweight title - that they didn't think the reports were true that a fight had been set for the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on September 20.

Again, this is spot on, though the two remaining possible venues both hold real attraction for me.

It amazes me that stories appeared regarding a fight in Vegas, even though no one bothered to contact me to find out if it was true!

My first choice is to fight in Cardiff at the Millennium Stadium, in front of my home supporters who I believe would fill the entire stadium. I can't be much clearer on that.

A gate of 60,000 plus would be phenomenal for my last ever fight. Again, I can only repeat this really is it for me, I want to bow out at the top.

My second choice is to fight at Madison Square Garden in New York, the Manhattan arena famed around the world as a venue of champions.

It's been called the Mecca' of sport and it would be an honour to fight there.

I have expressed my desire to fight in NYC for many years. I went to New York as part of the build-up of both the Mikkel Kessler and Bernard Hopkins fights and I love the place.

I also think NY is a town where I would be very well received.

There is a very large Italian-American population in Manhattan and that attracts me also.

The biggest names in the sport - Ali, Leonard, Foreman, and Marciano - have all boxed at the Garden.

It would also represent the best venue in America in order to accommodate my supporters from all over the UK.

It is far easier (and a bit cheaper as well) to get to New York rather than Vegas, the flight is shorter and accommodation ranges in price to a bigger degree.

If the date of September 20 turns out to be correct - if, it's also not set in stone - then of course I will be ready and in the best possible shape.

Because as far as I am concerned, Roy Jones is a much harder fight than Bernard Hopkins.

People might think Jones is past his best, but he beat Felix Trinidad in January and for me he looked incredibly sharp.

The guy is a four-weight world champion, formerly the number one pound-for-pound fighter on the planet.

I can see no more fitting way to end my career than to go in with a great champion, but as yet I still can't confirm a date or a venue and neither can anyone else.

Obviously my final fight will be at light heavyweight, which means eventually relinquishing all three of my super middleweight titles.

The first of those to go was the WBC title I won against Kessler in Cardiff, I had to give that up last week.

I don't have mixed feelings on this, I know it's the right thing to do. I was defined by my WBO title for the longest time and it'll be a wrench to give it up, but there is nothing left for me at super middleweight, Mikkel Kessler was the last great fight.

Not many fighters don't need the alphabet titles, but with just one fight left, that is the position I am now in.

It's nothing new for me; I've already relinquished the IBF title in my career.

Mandatory challenger for the WBC strap is Carl Froch and I really don't want to fight him. There is not even an element of doubt in my mind that I would beat Froch, I am sure I would stop him within a couple of rounds. But that wouldn't prove anything, it wouldn't sell in America and it just doesn't make sense from a business point of view. Froch used my name for a lot of years, calling me out when he had absolutely no intention of ever facing me in the ring.

Now he will get his shot, but I don't think he has a chance against Jermaine Taylor if that rumoured fight comes off.

Taylor is way too quick for Froch, I just don't think he's in his class. But if Froch fights Jeff Lacy he's got a great chance, because Lacy looked totally shot the last time I saw him fight (against Peter Manfredo).

Unfortunately I am still not in a position to comment on my split with promoter Frank Warren.

A lot of people have a lot of questions about my next fight and how it'll all be organised without Frank's involvement, but I am just not in a position to say anything yet.

However, I think there is still a lot of information to be revealed in the coming weeks. I can only reiterate that I hope everything can be done amicably.
