LEGENDARY Wales number eight Taulupe Faletau is set to return after six months on the sidelines in Cardiff’s Friday night clash with Ulster.

The 33-year-old back row forward suffered a broken arm in the World Cup win against Georgia in October and then suffered a calf injury.

Faletau missed the Six Nations, with Dragons number eight Aaron Wainwright impressing in his absence, but is poised for a comeback in the United Rugby Championship fixture in Belfast.

"We have one training session left but Toby will be in and around it this week which is brilliant. He is a Rolls Royce, he is out there running around and gets the best out of players,” said Cardiff head coach Matt Sherratt.

"It's credit to him because it's been a long route back and he has had to show character and resilience.

"He does not say a huge amount but he seems to have kept the love of playing rugby.

"I am sure he has found it hard. He knows what he wants, he is a good professional and he knows his body and mind, so you kind of let him do his thing."

Pontypool-raised Dragons great Faletau could provide Wales with a welcome boost for the summer tour to Australia, which is preceded by a Test against South Africa at Twickenham.

Warren Gatland used Wainwright, Tommy Reffell, Taine Basham and novice Cardiff back rowers Alex Mann and Mackenzie Martin in the Six Nations, while captain Dafydd Jenkins also dropped back from lock in the wooden spoon campaign.

The addition of 104-times capped Faletau would give Wales a lift against the Wallabies, says Sherratt.

"The sign of any good player in sport when you watch people like a Roger Federer or a Lionel Messi, they have time on the ball," he said.

"I am putting Toby in this category, and he would hate this, but he has time on the ball and everything he does looks comfortable.”

Highly-rated Ospreys number eight Morgan Morse has signed a new contract.

The 19-year-old Wales Under-20s international made his debut against the Sharks in November and has produced a string of eye-catching performances.

Morse said: “It’s great to be staying with the Ospreys, it’s the team where I started my professional career.

“This is a proud moment for me and my family, and I’m looking forward to seeing how far I can progress here.

“I’ve really enjoyed this season, I’ve made my debut and most importantly, been part of a positive season for the team. I can’t wait to see what the future holds.”

Head coach Toby Booth said: “His talent, work ethic and commitment to the sport exemplify exactly what we look for in a player. We’re excited to see his continued growth and his potential impact in the coming seasons.”
