OUR big chance of bringing some silverware to Newport rests on this weekend’s home and away clashes with Workington in the knock-out cup semi-finals.

Overall victory over the two nights would put us through to the Cup Final where we would meet either Champions-elect Glasgow or Newcastle.

Having had no home meeting since we defeated Redcar on August 31 or away since achieving the double over them the next night it will be great to have the team back together.

We have a great team spirit and we all really want to bring success to the club so we will really be going for it this weekend and it’ll be great to see Craig Watson.

I know that the club have been out publicising the meeting and with the kids go free incentive brought back for this clash they have been trying to get the message out to all the local schools. Hopefully we will have quite a few here to support us and bringing their parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents etc with them!

A big crowd would be just reward for the promotion and I know that the lads really would love to have plenty of noise made out there on the terraces with the fans really getting behind us.

I know I am really excited about this meeting as are all the team and even after all the years I have been riding the adrenaline will be pumping really hard for these two meetings.

With the season drawing to a close many of us will be starting to think about next season and I know that most, if not all of us, would like to be back at Newport in 2012.

I know that Steve Mallett has indicated that he doesn’t know what the future holds for the club but we all hope that the people of Newport can get behind us and we see an increased level of support for the remaining meetings.

I know I am not a Newport asset as I belong to Ipswich but I want to be back as a Wasp again as I love this club and really enjoy being here.
